I am an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Trent University. My research focuses on the history of early modern philosophy, especially the histories of skepticism, religious toleration, freedom of conscience, secularism, and more recently, science skepticism. I completed a dissertation on the seventeenth-century skeptic Pierre Bayle at the University of Western Ontario in 2010 under the supervision of Thomas Lennon. When I am not philosophizing I play, study, and teach chess.
